DESIGN-PARTNERS SHOWROOM, ZURICH
Design-Partners, Idaplatz, Zurich (2014). Assisted by Andrew Suda and Maya Malfatti Woods. My wife and I established our design company (www.design-partners.org) in 2011 around the time we moved into this ex-grocers shop which became the showroom. It was very run down and first needed basic repairs, plastering, new skirting boards etc. I then divided all walls into proportionate panels within which I could present various painting and other techniques. Although all the panels were to be quite different, the feeling on the whole remained homogeneous. This is possible when sticking mainly to pastel shades, while taking extra care not to place directly next to one another effects which might clash. I also painted the wooden floor panels in shades of grey in a range of stone-like effects. This added a coolness to the room and counter-balanced the colourful busyness of the walls. In Spring 2014 we moved out of the Zurich showroom to spend time on London projects, but we plan to build another as and when time and space allow.
